Dr. Tasneem Bhatia from the Atlanta Center for Holistic & Integrative Medicine joined the Dr. Oz Show today to share news about managing stress with supplements. She says that supplements are key to helping our bodies cope with stress.
1. Phosphatidylserine Supplement: take 100 mg 2-3 times per day to start out. This helps produce dopamine which helps calm down your nervous system and make you feel good. Do not take if you’re allergic to soy or on a blood thinner. (Great for financial stress!)
2. Jujube Supplement: Take 250 mg at bedtime to start. A 100-year old Chinese remedy to lower your blood pressure and cortisol levels, and help you get a good night’s sleep. (Great for mother-in-law stress!)
3. Theanine Supplement: Take 200 mg per day to start. This is an anti-anxiety remedy; an amino acid found in green tea that reduces stress and helps you not feel so frazzled.
Dr. Bhatia says you can take all of these three supplements together, but not at the same time every day. Jujube works best at bedtime, Phosphatidylserine works best in the morning and Theanine can be taken any time of the day.
